Fr. David Stock has served as Rector of St. John’s since May 2005.  Born and raised in Logan, Utah, he studied psychology, mathematics, and engineering at Utah State University.  He then worked in the drug and alcohol addiction counseling field for eight years before attending seminary at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific. He served parishes in Berkeley, California, and St. Louis, Missouri, before coming to Oklahoma with his wife, the Rev. Emily Schnabl.  Emily is the Rector of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Midwest City.  They are the proud parents of two cats.

In the Diocese of Oklahoma, Fr. David has served on the Standing Committee and Diocesan Council, and he was a Deputy to General Convention in 2015 and again in 2018.  He was elected to serve as Dean of the Oklahoma City Region for the 2016-2019 term.

Fr. David enjoys running (10-25 miles/week on good weeks).  He also continues to work with recovering alcoholics and addicts and is particularly interested in guiding others along a path of spiritual growth and encouraging them to adopt prayer practices suitable to them.  He is an associate, or “Family Brother” of Assumption Abbey, a Trappist Cistercian monastery in south central Missouri.
