Music at St. John's

At St John’s, we enjoy a rich and varied music program, informed by our English/Anglican roots. Our music can range from traditional hymns sung with organ, to offertory solos accompanied by guitar. The all-volunteer choir at St. John’s has a long history of striving for the best of the Anglican tradition, leading the congregation in sung worship, which includes the hymns, the service music, the psalms, and the responses. 

This is a close-knit group of people of all ages who wish to raise their heavenly voices, praising the Lord and united in the desire to make beautiful music. We sing together, party together and build long-lasting relationships. During Christmas and Easter, the choir is supplemented by professional instrumentalists for these important services.

We also have a 3-octave handbell choir that performs by themselves, or in various collaborations, such as choral anthems. Our handbell choir is led by Rosemary Owrig-Rodgers. Several of our ringers also sing in our choir. 

At St. John’s we offer a monthly contemplative service in the style of Taizé. Our Taizé choir is led by Mary Reynolds, a classically trained vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, who also composes most of the music chanted during the service.

Additionally, St. John’s is the home of the Windsong Chamber Choir, providing rehearsal space as well as offering concerts for the community, free of charge. You can learn more about Windsong at their website.
