Father Nathan Carr

Vicar

When the Rt. Rev. Poulson Reed, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma announced the appointment of the Rev. Nate Carr as the new part-time Vicar of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City, he stated "I’m excited to welcome Fr. Nathan to this new ministry. His spiritually grounded, entrepreneurial, missional energy is just what St. John’s needs as they move together into a bright future, with God’s help."

Fr. Nathan Carr previously served as the Vicar of St. James Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City and is grateful for the opportunity to follow God's call to St. John's OKC.

Prior to St. James, Fr. Nathan served for two years as an assisting priest at All Souls, OKC, the sponsoring parish of his initial aspirancy and formation. He did his Masters work at Reformed Theological Seminary and post-graduate work at Wycliffe College in Toronto, Canada before being ordained in 2015. In addition to his ministry as a priest, he also serves as the Headmaster of The Academy - a 800 student, three-campus Christian school of classics (K-12) located in the OKC area.

Fr. Nathan and his wife Sarah also dabble a bit in retail (Nate's vocation before ministry) through which they co-founded Commonplace Books/Market in Midtown OKC. Sarah assists with day-to-day operations of this endeavor. The Carrs also have six children.
